Burden We Carry
We each carry a burden,
The messages you delete,
The words you erase,
The carefully constructed words–
Words we fail to say.
We each carry a burden,
And mine–well mine,
Mine can be passed onto you
But I choose not to–
Choose not to hurt you.
We each carry a burden,
You and I,
These words left unsaid in between,
Can hurt both of us,
Or more.
We each carry a burden,
I’ll carry mine in silence,
And pray, that I do not
Pass it onto you.
That will not hurt you or I.
We each carry a burden,
I’ve left a message,
In this, my little piece,
Read, or understand,
As your heart chooses to.
