Words

I wish I was as adept with words,
Like how a mighty knight
Brandishes one’s sword
Against their King’s enemy.

I wish I was as adept with words,
As one would hold a scalpel
Delicate but confident,
Like a doctor saving a life.

I wish I was as adept with words,
Brushing into an empty canvas,
Shadowing it in correct places,
As an artist would with their brush.

I wish I was as adept with words,
Like how he says each word
So perfectly in each sentence
As though they belonged together.

I wish I was as adept with words,
Maybe I could say what I really want to
Express myself, defend myself
Instead of laying helpless and insecure.
